hello world. I'm away from home again. I think its a trend for every holiday break from uni life. Seriously, I feel itchy when i don't travel away from home! Or make sure that my entire break is actually no longer a break and more busy than ever. So currently, after a 16 hours flight with a transit at tokyo narita, i'm finally at Vancouver. I'm so enjoying the temperature right now. It makes me want to migrate! Its such a liveable environment. With the ocean in front, and a backdrop of snowcap mountains with a 16 degrees summer, what more can i ask for? Plus, the ubc people have been really great hosts! Friendly bunch =) * After touchdown, we dropped our bags at Marine Drive Residences where each of us had our own room. It was four person to a dorm equipped with a kitchenette that has an oven and 2 bathrooms. The view of my room overlooks the sea. I like much. From there, we had a tour around ubc. Apparently, a scene in X men 3 - Wolverine Origins was filmed at UBC. I loved this metal plate thingy where we could stand on top and speak, and we would hear our own echo. Crazy right? And nobody else would hear it. Its amazing! I've no idea how it works. Today was just introduction to vancouver, its history and ubc. Interesting fact that engineers at UBC are a cool bunch. There was one time where they played a prank and made a cow climb up the stairs to the clock tower but then the cow was too afraid to climb down after. SOooooooooo. Guess what they had to do? They slaughtered the cow. and made beef chop. haha. At the clock tower. Another time, they played a prank and hang a car down the Golden Bridge in San Francisco. They did the same stunt again last year and was arrested for it. haha. * At night, we went by ourselves over to Robson street where all the shops are located. Shopping in vancouver isn't as great as washington though. We passed by Granville where all the clubs and bars are. By the way, night night time in vancouver now, when it gets dark, is around 9.30pm 10ish. I think i'm light based person. I only think its night when it gets dark. haha. After, we went to grab groceries at Safeway, their version of Giant. Me got a safeway card. =) So now i get discounts. haha. The raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries here are super cheap. We stocked up. My friends did try to get a safeway card but the customer service lady lectured them on how they were wasting cards because they don't live in canada. I guess i'm lucky. I got it in 2 mins flat. haha. Off to bed now. Its 12am and i'm pooped. Nites!
