The Story Of My Heart...
Tuesday, July 22, 2008

The performances by StudioFesti at the exterior of the Singapore National Museum was breath-taking.
I loved the introductory piece involving a romantic dance between a couple.
Each movement was seamless. The music setting the mood. The weather perfect. Slightly moist and the occasional sea breeze.
The crowd seemingly melted away. And then... It was just us.
Us and beautiful mystical dance renditions.
It didn't matter that we had to sit on the bare floor for the hour long perfomance.
Nor did it matter that the crowd squeeze was annoying.
Nor did it matter that i was tired from the conservation biology field trip earlier in the day.
What mattered was the company.
For that i'm sure.

I doubt next Saturday's Ballet Under the Stars performance can surpass the repetiore of StudioFesti.
But i do hope to be proven wrong.
I've decided to pack my picnic basket with wine, apple cidre, quiche or maybe cake. This time round, it will just be the 4 of us.
And so, it has dwindled to that number.
Its alright though, i'm looking forward to it.

The module i've been attending for the past month, Biodiversity and Conservation Biology has been most interesting and morbid.
The effects it has on me..
Considering that i do like being a consumer, being reminded twice a week of the consequences of human greed fueled by materialistic consumerism has made me depressed.
Maintenant, i do not feel the same gleeful pleasure when purchasing yet another shoe or new additions to the wardrobe.
Yes, i reiterate. Its Depressing.
Its not that i am not glad that my perceptions have shifted but its more of knowing for a fact that millions out-there still bear a nonchalent attitude towards the environment.
Sometimes, i guess ignorance is bliss. Somehow. Yet, the change have to start somewhere.

Changing the world, turning over a rock one piece at a time.
On my agenda, book hunting tomorrow on green roofs and living walls.
My, its darn mind-boggling. Of course, afterall it IS my choice of topic for a choose-anything-under-the-sun 15% presentation.
