National Day 2005...
This year's national day celebration was a HIT..hahaa
I'm so glad it went smoothly and all. Hmm...can't guess what i'm rambling on about?
Well..this year i was down for the house performance for meridian's national day celebration..
My gawd!!!
Looking back on it now..
The rehearsals and dances were all choreographed in a rush..such a frenzy..to think that our house captain even thought of withdrawing our item...u noe what?
Of all the 3 major school rehearsals, each time our dance item was different from the previous one..we even changed the songs used..can u believe it?!
Anyway, everybody was totally frustrated...the guys were not that willing in participating and some were nearly always missing in action..Argh...
But i'm glad we pulled through...criticisms and all
After recieving feedback that our previous dance item, the indian segment was racist and insulting the whole community, we decided to redo the whole item..
So...
Staying back in school to the wee hours of the night, hahaa, actually not that late. BUT considering it IS school, leaving at 9pm at night is madness.
In prompt to, with no other choice, no one to help, me and aud managed to somehow choreograph cool dance steps for the guys...consisting of free trust falls, bending backs and funny moves..oh my gawd..we felt so accomplished. The only trouble was to get the guys to perform it. Believe me when i tell u that it is hard to convince them except for a kind, understanding group.
Next, we were left with the girls moves...hahaa..it was no easy feat..again me and aud had to crack our brains..we decided on cheerleader dance moves to complement the guys..Our major attraction was adeline's spilt...
With make-up, Wild hair and short skirts, we went onto stage to perform our version of 'uniquely you' and 'stand up for singapore' sung by des and zhen yee ...
OmigawD!!!
the impact of us dancing on stage left the audience stunned...they laugh like mad...Talking abt madness, earlier on, when we finished getting ready, we rushed to the hall, passing the band on the way...
You can guess what happens next...
The band people started laughing..hmph...well, i shall just take that as a compliment..Kang Zhuang who was playing his horn actually stopped and turn to laugh at us...
I'll stop digressing..haha..back to the topic..
Although, we did not manage to clinch the top prize, we had shown sportsmanship by not withdrawing...Yay!! no more late nights..It was actually amazing we were not booted out of the competition, judging that we did not have a proper item until saturday..
